Six Minutes
When I was told I had 6 minutes to make a dance, it started a flurry of thoughts in my head about the enormous tasks that we set forth to accomplish, and the almost laughable futility in completing these tasks in the time that we give ourselves. The need to strive seems woven into the very fabric of what it means to be human, and the urgency to arrive at these behemoth and idealistic destinations certainly gives our lives a sense of drive, but what else does it give us? I wonder, by constantly propelling ourselves into the future are we setting ourselves up for disappointment? Or just a poignant reminder that even though we’ll never get it all done…still we try.
